Gathering “This is the Day” UMH #657
Greeting/Announcements
Call to Worship
Leader: In the quiet of the night, and in the busyness of the day, God meets us.
People say: We come into His presence just as we are—weary, hopeful, and seeking His blessing.
Leader: When our own strength fails, and our clever schemes run out, the Lord remains faithful.
People say: He breaks our pride to heal our souls; He humbles us to lift us up.
Leader: Let us drop our defenses and step into holy ground.
All say: Let us worship the God who knows our name, heals our wounds, and holds us in His everlasting arms!
Opening Prayer
* Hymn of Praise & Celebration UMH #133
“Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”
*Affirmation of Faith UMH #881
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;*
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic** church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen
*Gloria Patri UMH # 70
